Consummation

You want a prenuptial agreement
Truth is sweetheart, its already mine
You lock the door
And complain I never come around

You open it a crack
And let me slip you a flower
If this long engagement is what you want
You know I can’t help but give you what you want

You must have forgotten
You were born married to me

When we honestly ask ourselves which person in our lives mean the most to us, we often find that it is those who, instead of giving advice, solutions, or cures, have chosen rather to share our pain and touch our wounds with a warm and tender hand.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Food is not matter
but the heart of matter,
the flesh and blood of
rock and water, earth and sun.

Food is not a commodity
which price can capture,
but exacting effort,
carefully sustained,
the life work of countless beings.

With this cooking I enter
the heart of matter,
I enter the intimate activity
which makes dreams materialize.

Mandala Art Plates by Jo Thomas Blaine.

Using a clear glass plate and a nontoxic and water resistant sealant, the mandala prints are layered with exotic handmade papers from around the world, appearing to be virtually fused beneath the glass. The backing and border colors will vary. When handled with care, the plates are fully usable. Simply hand wash, towel dry, and avoiding soaking or prolonged exposure to sunlight. She also has bowls, prints, cards, and jewelry.

Some thoughts about Mandala Art

Mandalas speak to the soul. They are art, yet they are more than art, the same way we are each our selves, and yet we are more than our selves. Mandalas invite and entice us to look beyond the surface, to the many layers that combine to form our experience of an image in the moment.

The word "mandala" is from the Sanskit, meaning "circle". Mandalas have traditionally been graphic, mystic symbols of the universe, of creation, and of the drama of a human in the world seeking his or her sense of origin. They have been used by many different cultures to cultivate power or healing energy, to protect, to inspire, and to call upon the divine. Mandalas are deeply a part of our nature. They are found in our cells, in our eyes, in fruit, in flowers, in snowflakes and tree trunks and molecules.

A mandala can be a point of focus. It can be a soothing presence. A mandala can be a porthole to dreams, a prayer for healing, or simply a beautiful decoration.

Artists all around the world are painting mandalas. The possibilities are infinite! Each new mandala is a unique expression of the One pattern that contains all patterns. If you'd like to explore, you can take a fantastic journey through nearly 200 artist's mandalas at Clare Goodwin's Mandala Page

Thoughts from the Peace Pilgrim

There is a criterion by which you can judge whether the thoughts you are thinking and the things you are doing are right for you. The criterion is: Have they brought you inner peace? If they have not, there is something wrong with them, so keep seeking! If what you do has brought you inner peace, stay with what you believe is right.

Dazed

Stop beating yourself senseless
For what you do, for what you don’t do

You still think you are the doer!

Look again and ask
Who’s moving me? Who’s keeping me from moving?

It’s either habit working those worn out strings
Or it’s me behind the wheel

Either way, love, you can’t be held responsible!
And I’ll show you what it’s like to be full.

The Hunter and the Bird

A hunter once caught a small bird. "Master," said the bird, "you have eaten so many animals bigger than I without assuaging your appetite. How can the flesh of my tiny body satisfy you? If you let me go, I will give you three counsels: one while I am still in your hand, the second when I am on your roof, and the third from the top of a tree. When you have heard all three, you will consider yourself the most fortunate of men.

The hunter agreed. "The first counsel is this," said the bird. "Do not believe the foolish pronouncements of others." The bird then flew onto the roof, from where it gave the second counsel, "Have no regrets for what is past."

"Concealed in my body is a precious pearl weighing 5 ounces. It was yours by right, and now it is gone." Hearing this, the man began to bewail his misfortune.

"Why are you so upset?" asked the bird. "Did I not say, Have no regrets for what is past? Are you deaf, or did you not understand what I told you? I also said, Do not believe the foolish pronouncements of others. I weigh less than two ounces, so how could I possibly conceal a pearl weighing five? "

Coming to his senses, the hunter asked for the third counsel. "Seeing how much you heeded the first two, why should I waste the third?" replied the bird.

Escher Mandalas

Mandala art comes in many forms, sometimes it is expected and planned, sometimes it isn't. I'm not at all sure that M C Escher planned to make mandala art, and yet, these do seem to fall into that category. Intriguing, aren't they?

Traveler...

Where are you off to now?
…have you gone to the outer edge?
…are you tramping through this world and others like it?

Is that you child, so heavy and tired?
Sweetness, even you can see there is nothing new to see.
Turn around Love and open your other eyes

You know me – the one resting in your favorite chair…
You remember me – the one wearing your worn out shoes…
Turn around Love - I am still here.
